Seeking after the Truth

[author_socials]

The truth is one of the most exciting things in the world. Because it’s something that we all say we want, but the truth is it can be a scary thing. It shows us who we are and shines a light on everyone’s foundations to see the strength of it.

We can’t be afraid to seek after truth because it will not only set us free, but it opens the door of our purpose as well.

I think John Locke said it best when he said, “Thus he who has raised himself above the alms-basket, and, not content to live on the scraps of begged opinions, set his own thoughts on work, to find and follow truth, will (whatever he lights on) not miss the hunter’s satisfaction; every moment of his pursuit will reward his pains with some delight; and he will have reason to think his time not ill-spent, even when he cannot boast of any great acquisition.”

We can’t be content with whatever opinion is popular at the moment. Opinions and Ideas have changed throughout history, but the fact is the truth never changes. If we only follow what is popular, there will never be any real purpose.

What does it mean to set your mind to work to find and follow the truth? It means that often to find the truth. You have to work, and it may not be easy because the truth can be hard to find when many different opinions are covering and or hiding it.

The beauty is that you don’t only find purpose and satisfaction in truth, but find it the pursuit as well. It is just as big of a thrill in looking as in finding.

The end of that paragraph sums it up best because even if no one around you cares what you’ve found, they care more about the opinion and trends of society. You will know that you have found what you are looking for, the Truth.

There is a secret to finding the truth. Well, maybe not a secret but a map to help you find the truth.

We see it in John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Jesus is the whole truth and nothing but the truth, and he will lead you and guide you as you look for the truth.

When those begged opinions pull you away and start to guide your perspective, you have the word of God, which is entirely true, to lead you back to what is true.

Make it something you live by; Let it be a part of your lifestyle. Seek after the truth because when you find it, it will always lead you right where you need to be. It is the one thing that gives purpose and fulfillment.
